II.2.4. Beschrijving
The ESV EURIDICE GIE (Economic Interest Grouping between SCKCEN and ONDRAF/NIRAS) is responsible for the management and operation of the underground laboratory HADES (-225m).  This laboratory is accessible via 2 shafts which each contain 1 or more hoisting installations.  The first shaft of the underground laboratory HADES was built in the early 1980s. Since then, all the equipment for the shaft (hoisting system, shaft tower, engine room, electrical supply, lighting, etc.) has remained almost unchanged. Given that the ESV EURIDICE GIE intends to use and operate the laboratory for at least another 20 years, and the fail-safe reliability of the current hoisting system of shaft 1 (as emergency and evacuation shaft) cannot be guaranteed for this timescale, it was decided to replace the old hoisting system and the other equipment in shaft 1. A consultancy was solicited to supervise these renovation works. Finally the complete project has been split up in 3 lots : "General Construction" (lot 1), "Technical Equipment" (lot 2) and "Hoisting installations and Shaft Equipment (lot 3).  The present Contract (lot 3) includes the following components and will be awarded to one (main) contractor : - Dismantling of the existing facilities in the shaft (utilities, lighting, ventilation duct, piping, cage of the existing hoisting system and its guide rails, cage ladder with shielding, etc.) - Perform (or have performed) cleaning and concrete repairs on the shaft wall - Removal of the existing hoisting installation aboveground - Design and build of a new hoisting installation (payload 1200 kg) and emergency hoisting installation (payload 300 kg) - Mounting of all utilities in the shaft, to be partly supplied by the contractor of lot 2 "Technical Equipment". The construction of the machine building and the shaft overhead frame are part of the contracted works of lot 1 "General Construction", who also acts as the Pilot Contractor for the complete renovation project. The conditions for Candidacy can be found in the Selection Guide.
